Cellular Honeycomb Shades

Cellular shades are often refered to as Cell shades, Honeycomb shades or " Duette " shades. Duette is a product brand name from Hunter Douglas, the original inventor of cellular shades. Cellular shades are made up of 2 layers of a polyester / cotton blend to create a honeycomb cell that insulates by virtue of a created "dead air space" pocket. This pocket blocks the infiltration of warm air, so it cools against the sun, the pocket acts as an insulator to keep heat loss to a minimum and is also an effective acoustical barrier giving a normally noisy hard surface room a quite hush. The sound absorption quality can be quite dramatic in situations where ambient noise from traffic and surrounding schools and businesses could impact the interior of a home. Insulation value is the stand out feature of cellular shades adding an R-value as high as 3.5. A double glazed window is nominally rated at an R-value of 3.5, adding a cellular shade doubles the efficiency of the windows.

Testimonials

    Hi Pamela,
Saw your posting on Madrona Moms. Wanted to let you know that I had an excellent experience with that shop. I have pretty high-end grass weave blinds that were pre-installed in our house upon purchase (the listing agent had invested in them during the staging). Anyways, I wanted to add lining to them to afford more privacy in our bedroom.
Lesley's shop did a GREAT job with them and didn't rest until I was perfectly happy with them. Because our window sizes are non-standard, the linings had to be customized too so it was kind of a tricky job. I was concerned about trusting anyone with the blinds b/c they are pricey and pretty delicate -- but Lesley and her team were excellent! Great turnaround, great follow-up, great craftsmanship.
    I'd totally recommend!

Terry is a straight shooter. Window treatments are an often overlooked expense by homebuyers. Particularly those buying new construction. Terry sees to it that homeowners get a good value for their dollar. I give him high marks.

Terry did a repair job for us - changing rollers and pulls on all our shades. He did a great job and I referred him to others. I highly recommend him.

"Total Spaces Design has used Terry Carbary to install window treatments for several years. Terry has all the attributes we look for in an installer. He is neat and clean, as well as his truck and his tools. He shows up when he says he will, he is meticulous about his install and the care of the draperies he is installing.
He is Type A enough to make sure every fold is attended to and a real pleasure to be around on the job site. Terry is always respectful of our clients space, and available to help with adjustments to the job after the install.
